Greetings, Using HP laptop with Windows 10 Home Audacity 2.4.2 trying to digitize classic cassettes via ezcap usb machine. getting “Error 9999 u/a host error” tried 4 dif usb cables. lite candles and made offerings to Bill Gates. no joy yet. any suggestions? all efforts appreciated.

Ensure that the USB cassette is connected before launching Audacity.
Ensure that Window Preferences give Audacity permission to use the “microphone” (Bill G refers to all recording devices as “microphone”).
If still no joy, check in the Windows Sound control panel and ensure that Windows is receiving sound from the USB device (there’s a green level meter).
Failing all else, you could try making offerings to Linus Torvalds (my little joke 
)
