Configure Bose QC 35 ii headset over bluetooth as recording device with Audacity v3.7.1

Hello, I am a new user to the forum, but have used Audacity several times on MS Windows.

Anyway, I have managed to generate a recording, of my voice, using Audacity, but when I attempt to play it back, I can only hear it over my RHEL 10 (not a virtual-machine) machine’s builtin-speakers.

I have my Redhat (RHEL10) 10 machine, in actuality, ALMALinux 10, configured to use my headset over bluetooth. I can get it to playback audio through my headset when using Google Chrome and playing videos off of Youtube, but not sure why I cannot get audio playback from Audacity.

I have used the [Audio Setup] > Playback Device> list of playback_devices, and have the ability to only playback through the one called “HDA Intel PCH: 92HD91BXX Analog (hw:1,0)”, which are my laptop’s speakers.

Am I doing something incorrectly? I have not installed/implemented FFmpeg yet, but I do not believe that is yet relevant… not to this situation anyway.

I am trying to get myself setup for total immersion with RHEL 10, and get away from MS Windows OSes, or MAC OS for that matter.

Thank you for any help.

I’ve never heard of RHEL 10 so I can’t help you, but you’re right about FFmpeg.

FFmpeg is ONLY for importing/exporting certain file formats.

RHEL is a nickname for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
10 is their latest major release.

Red Hat is a very popular and well-known brand in the IT industry; granted it was purchased by IBM in 2019 or sometime around then.

Thanks for the reply @DVDdoug.

I titled this post incorrectly. Ugggh.
I meant as playback device.

Anyway, I have learned in the last hour that I can record, I am hoping, with my bluetooth headset, but I cannot playback the audio from Audacity, through my headset. That is the issue.

Perhaps this is an expected behavior of Audacity?
