I just installed 2.0 and then opened a project that I had created in 1.3. I normalized the audio, then hit the play button. My PC just locked up and I couldn’t even recover with ctl-alt-delete. Had to forcibly reset the pc. I tried it again and it happened again.
What version of Windows? I cannot recreate this problem on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.
I’m using Windows XP Home edition.
Does the problem occur with one specific Audacity Project?
Does Audacity 2.0 work OK if you create a new project?
Whenever this happens it is almost certainly a problem with drivers - probably those for your sound device.
See Updating Sound Device Drivers - if you need help, please tell us what sound device you are using.
If updating sound device drivers does not help you can also see if there is a memory dump you can analyze for clues as to the possible problem. Download WhoCrashed from http://www.resplendence.com/downloads .
If you are not sure where the memory dump is, right-click over My Computer > Properties, which should bring you to “System Properties”. Click the “Advanced” tab, and then click “Settings” under “Startup and Recovery”.
