Checking Add-ins/Moving addins Audacity 2.2.2

I run a computer and laptop both running Windows 10, and have the same version of Audacity on both.

The desktop version of Audacity can import and export files the one on the laptop cannot.

Is there an easy way to see and check the pluging that they both have, so that I can check what plug in is missing from the laptop version?

Import / export of WAV, AIFF, OGG, FLAC files are fully supported by Audacity without any plug-ins / add-ons.
Import of MP3 files is supported without plug-ins or add-ons.
Export of MP3 files requires LAME to be installed.

What are you trying to do?
What happens when you try to export a WAV file?

On the desktop version I can copy MP4’s to Audacity and it is extracting the sound.

The laptop one does not do this.

They can both export MP3’s and wav files

MP4 support is provided by “FFmpeg”. See here for how to install FFmpeg for Audacity: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_and_updating_audacity_on_windows.html#winff
