Change request: Noise Reduction - add feature to BOOST instead of reduction. Heres why

Hi guys I’m new to the forum and not a native english speaker so be nice

I have a sound file with unique parts that are too quiet. I can boost the specific parts manually but having a profile generator like in the noise reduction effect would save me a lot of time. I tried my luck to achieve this with the Noise Reduction feature and e.g. clicked the second checkbox, put in negative values ( ) but unfortunately it didn’t work. Is it possible to extend this feature for boosting instead of reduction please? I think this is a famous feature and maybe more ppl will find use for that

Thanks to all devs who work on this amazing project as open source volunteers you guys are amazing <3

If you select the “Residue” option in Noise Reduction, it will remove everything except for the noise that matches the noise profile. You can then apply the Amplify effect to make the residue louder.

Then you can re-import the original file and export (both together) to mix the boosted “noise” with the original file (if that’s what you want).

I have a feeling you won’t get the results you want.

Dynamic range compression (with make-up gain) will do that automatically.
