So as the title states… I can’t save in MP3 anymore…
I used to but now I can’t…
I uninstalled audacity and LAME and put them back in but it’s still having the same problem… I’ve never had a problem like this so im stuck…
basically when I save… it saves like it should… but I then look at the song file and it’s format is in ‘file’ and can’t be opened…
help please! it never used to do this!
“File menu > Save” produces “Audacity Projects” which are not normal audio files.
“File menu > Export” must be used to create an ordinary audio file.
Ensure that you don’t use dots “.” in the file name. Audacity will automatically add the “.mp3” file extension to the name that you provide, but only if the file name does not contain any dots.
Are there any error or warning messages when you export as MP3?
See here for more information http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_opening_and_saving_files.html#extensions . Almost certainly you added a dot in the file name. If you want to do that, add “.mp3” (without quotes) at the end of the file name before you save it.
