Can't save Audacity projects in a custom location.

  • Audacity 2.1.2.
  • Windows 10 pro.
I tried to save a project that I made in Audacity. I went to File in the Menu bar and chose Save project as…, the windows explorer window opened and I created a new folder named Projects in the main Audacity folder which was installed in the C: drive of my computer by default when I downloaded Audacity:

, but when I tried to save the project in the folder Projects, this popped up:

, it says that I don’t have permission to save in this location and I should contact the administrator to obtain permission although I’m the computer’s administrator, and it suggested that I save the project in another folder (which I don’t want to) that doesn’t have anything to do with Audacity. What can I do?

This is a Windows restriction (also applies to most other modern operating systems). User data should not be saved within system space (“Program Files” belongs to the operating system). Save your data in disk space allocated for user files (such as your “Documents” or “Music” folder).

I tried to save it in the D: drive but it looks like it’s the same as the C: drive. I have to find a place for my projects now. Thank you!
