I used audacity for speech recording and export it into a MP3 file using L.A.M.E. Audacity is installed in a PC that is like 5 years old. I had a problem with the 1.0.x version (not so sure which version was it). So I uninstalled that and installed 2.0.4 for Windows. It did the recording but was not able to save it as an audacity (.aup) file nor was I able to export into MP3 format. Heard that 2.0.4 had problems so I uninstalled that version and installed the 2.0.3 version. With this version it records and and was able to export it to a MP3 file but when I opened the file it was empty (nothing came out). Furthermore I was also not able to save project also (.aup file) - it said ‘there is not enough space in the hard disk’ but I do have have alot of space available in my PC. So now i’m stuck because I can’t save my recordings at all. Please advise.
Where are you trying to save the file? Is there enough space in that location?
I can’t save it anywhere. I have tried to save it on the desktop, mydocument, anywhere in my C drive (hard disk), a memory stick and even a external disk. No success!
Try this:
- Open Audacity (if it’s already open, close it and then re-open it.
- From the Generate menu, generate a tone with the default settings.
- “File menu > Export”.
- Select WAV as the file type.
- Enter testfile as the file name.
- Select “Documents” as the destination folder.
- Click the “Save” button.
Did that work?
Don’t add any of the following into the file name on Windows:
/ : * ? " < > |
