Can't record via Stereo Mix

Alas the same problem rearing it’s ugly head again. I’ve been struggling with Stereo Mix with Windows 7 64 and Audacity versions 1 and 2. Realtek HDA

Stereo Mix was working fine until a week or so ago, then an update apparently messed it up… The set of bars (next to Stereo Mix in Control Panel/Sound/Recording) is showing no input signal whatsoever

I’ve tried many silly tweaks (disabling other microphones, enabling them again, setting speakers to default. Input levels at 100%, 80%. Nothing gets any signal

Anyone else getting this?

If it was a sound device driver update, you can roll back to the previous driver in Windows Device Manager:
