Using win 7, I’ve got V2.0.5. Installed from .exe installer. I have recorded streaming audio previously but now I’m getting this message. “Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate”. I have enabled “stereo mix” and selected it as input but only get the error message. I’ve reinstalled it all, rebooted but nothing solves the problem? I would appreciate help or suggestions.

Can you record from your microphone? If yes, it could be a specific setting with stereo mix in Windows “Sound”.
Have you tried Windows WASAPI host instead to record computer playback? See: Tutorial - Recording Computer Playback on Windows - Audacity Manual .

Hi, I have configured Audacity to windows WASAPI and it records streaming audio OK. As I said in my 1st post, I had previously been recording from the “stereo mix” input. Why I cannot do record from that now, has me baffled. However, mission accomplished and recording streaming audio. Thank you. x
