Can't record from cassette

I’ve loaded a cassette and started playing it. The sound from the cassette is coming out of the speakers on the player. However, what comes out of the PC speakers is the sound on the tuner. My function is set to Phono.

According to windows/sound, my recording device is microphone array-2-usb audio controller; my playback device is speakers-realtek high definition audio.

I’m using windows 7. Audacity 2.1.0

I’m sure I’m just forgetting to flip a switch somewhere.

Thanks.

It sounds like your stereo system is all fouled-up…

Tell us more about your stereo…

Is “tape-out” connected to your USB device?

If you are set to phono, you should be hearing the phono and the phono signal should be coming out of “tape out” and tape-out should be connected to the USB device.

Or, If you have a separate cassette deck you can plug it directly into the USB device.

The sound from the cassette is coming out of the speakers on the player

If your stereo has a “tape monitor” switch, turn that off any you should hear what’s selected.
