Can't open two .aud files in one window.

Using 2.0.5, zipped folder.

I tried to open two .aud files in one window. Which ever one I open first, appears, but when I try to use “import” to open the second one I get this error - “Audacity did not recognize the type of file (it shows the location on my computer). If it is uncompressed try importing it using “import raw.””

So, I tried using “import raw” and get an empty 2 channel track.

Can two .aud files be opened in one window? If so, how do I do it?

Thanks

That’s very old. I’d recommend that you update to the current 2.1.2 version: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/

No, there is no automatic way to merge Audacity projects.

If the projects are simple, for example just one audio track, then the easy and safe way to combine the projects is to export the track from one project as a WAV file, then import that WAV file into the other project.

It is also possible to open two projects in two separate windows and then copy and paste from one project to the other. Personally I don’t recommend working in this way as I’ve had bad experiences doing so.

Thanks for the quick response. That explains why I am having trouble. I will try what you said and also get the latest version of Audacity.
