Can't open any files

Something strange has just happened. I’ve been using audacity in the morning and when I came back to it in the afternoon I can’t open any files. It says that it can’t access the c drive. Nothing has changed. What’s going on? It was suggested to download a FFMPEG app, but they want a credit card which I am reluctant to do. Why would I need to download another app when an hour before everything worked fine?Thanks

FFmpeg is free. Here is the link: FFmpeg download. You don’t need a credit card to install it. You need it for saving and converting to different formats. It shouldn’t have any bearing on the problem you are reporting.
