"can't find path" to .aup I am selecting

So I’ve read a few similar scenarios on here and it looks like what people say is that the files are corrupt, but I’d just see a bunch of NULL files when I open the .aup is how they seem to verify that–which, when I do, I see a bunch of file information and no NULL. When I go File > Open and select the .aup(s) it says, first: "Error Opening Project: Couldn’t find the project data folder: “[x]” and the only option is to hit ok, at which point I get Could not load file: “[exact location/path I clicked on]”

I’m on macOS Big Sur 11.5.2
Audacity 2.4.2.0

Sorry if this has been solved before, I didn’t find one with some searches, but my keyword game might be weak. Attached is the file which, as far as I can tell, is completely intact?
Thank you all for being helpful people on the internet and knowing stuff about this app which admittedly confuses the heck out me.
BTO TJ.aup (204 KB)

Audacity is looking for the folder “BTO TJ_data”, which should be in the same directory as “BTO TJ.aup” but apparently it does not exist.

Thanks so much for responding! & oh, interesting. So, that’s intact and right next to it in my folder. =/ When I try to open them both by highlighting them>right click>“open with Audacity” it gives me the same notification as well. Is there a way to help it find the file? It indeed exists, to mixed fortune.

In that case, Audacity should find it

Is the problem just with that one project or do you have the same problem with all projects?

The AUP file seems to be in good shape. There’s a tiny line in the top which calls out the name of the show.

That’s the main reason you can’t change the same of the show after you save it. That program line and the actual name of the show need to match.

Are you using drives other than your internal drive? External Drives? Network, or Cloud Drives? Audacity doesn’t get along with those very well.

This is how the show should look.

The two have to be in the same location or folder, they have to be named the same, and it has to be the name you gave them in Audacity.

Did you try a Spotlight search? The magnifying glass at the top-right of your screen? After Spotlight finds something, hold the Command key and it will tell you where the file is.

RESOLVED! I don’t know how I arranged it but I started creating or altering a duplicate save path within the one created by Audacity somehow, with the same name, including the _data part of the file name, within the first _data file. I genuinely have no idea how, but I’m going to take this as a blessing despite that it wasted your time on something silly =P Genuinely, thank you all so much. I might never have understood what I did wrong.

Hello,
I hope this finds you well.
I recorded 2 interviews on Audacity and saved exactly as wI always do. The interviews were saved on my Desktop.
When I try to open one of the interviews (in Aup. On my Desktop) it shows “Couldn’t find the project data folder.” All my searching failed to find it and put it on the Desktop by the Aup. File. Any idea where to find it? Audacity only has “Open recent” which is of vey few files.
Your help is appreciated.
All the best in 2022,
Joseph
I have Audacity 2.4.1 and macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6
