Cannot record with latest version 2.3.0

Mac OS 10.14 Mojave-----I updated latest version of Audacity 2.3.0. The update did not remove the previous version 2.0.5. I can open either version. The old version still works properly. I only have 1 version open at a time. I set all recording parameters on the new version to match the old. I am recording from a turntable via a USB Audio Codec. When I press the record button of the new version, the recording line moves but there is no input. If I quit the new version and open the old, I can record with no problems. When I first opened the new version there was a dialog box about accessing my computer’s microphone. Perhaps I clicked the wrong box. I can’t get that dialog to reappear.

Close Audacity.

Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input (I assume they didn’t change this part too much).

Does the sound meter jump when play something? Is there more than one USB Audio CODEC?

Audacity gets its sound from the computer, not the device. It has to make it this far to appear in Audacity.
