Cannot record from Mac

Hi
I find myself unable to record from my mac using Audacity.
Preferences:
Input sound flower 2
Output sound flower 2
Sound effects through internal speakers
Opened audacity
Soundflower 2 for input
Internal speakers for output
Hit monitor - no sound coming out
Hi record - no sound visible on the soundwave
In Apple preferences there is a sound monitor that is showing that sound is happening somewhere in the system, but I can neither see it nor record it.
Any thoughts, kind people?

MacOS Catalina 10.15.3
and
Audacity 2.3.0.0
by the way…

I have the same problem.
Thanks for posting.

MacBook Pro OS Catalina 10.15.3
Audacity 2.3.3

I have selected - Core Audio / Built-in Microphone / Mono / Built-in Output

no sound wave on Audacity new audio track - but- Sound Settings in Preference show’s input is actively receiving.

I tried every other selection ( and returned to the above) to try and get it to record. no success.

any suggestions appreciated.

To record anything on Catalina with Audacity, you have to use this workaround:
https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/audacity-2-3-3-under-macos-10-15-catalina/54279/1

I don’t know if Soundflower is supported by Catalina.

Ended up using these same settings for Quicktime. Worked fine. Then converted the file to MP3 and imported to Audacity.
A shame really as I have always liked Audacity and thought it a very easy and versatile app to use.
Hope this helps the other poster here.

Tried it. Audacity didn’t open.
