I earlier had Audacity 1.3.x and was able to convert some of my cassettes without any problem. All of a sudden I started getting the following message “Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.”. After giving OK for couple of times, the message went off and all I could record was a huge buzzing noise. I then upgraded to Audacity 2.0.3 and now nothing is getting recorded. Earlier the USB cassette player was not recognized by Windows and after changing the port it is now recognized. Can somebody help?
The order has to be: Plug the USB device in and wait for Windows to Recognize it. Then launch Audacity and it should be possible to find the device in the recording drop-down next to the microphone symbol.
If you do any of these out of order or try to rush the process, it may fail.
