Cannot recognize audacity, cannot download new vn. (SOLVED)

Hi there, I have been running 2.04 audacity the last month with no worries. But today, I did my updates & upgrades in terminal, and now my Ubuntu 13.04 system cannot find audacity.

So I tried to reinstall, but get this info:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

audacity: Depends: audacity-data (= 2.0.5+svn20131101+r8053-0~r26~ubuntu13.04.1) but 2.0.5+svn20131102+r8079-0~r26~ubuntu13.04.1 is to be installed
Depends: libavcodec-extra-53 (>= 6:0.8.6) but 6:0.8.6ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libavformat-extra-53 (>= 6:0.8.6) but 6:0.8.6ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libavutil-extra-51 (>= 6:0.8.6) but 6:0.8.6ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.15) but 2.17-0ubuntu5.1 is to be installed
Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but 1:4.7.3-1ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.0) but 2.36.0-1ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.8.0) but 2.24.17-0ubuntu2 is to be installed
Depends: libportaudio2 (>= 19+svn20101113-2~) but 19+svn20111121-1build1 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.4.0) but 4.7.3-1ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libwxbase2.8-0 (>= 2.8.12.1) but 2.8.12.1-11ubuntu4 is to be installed
Depends: libwxgtk2.8-0 (>= 2.8.12.1) but 2.8.12.1-11ubuntu4 is to be installed

Cannot re-install in terminal either, I get this:

Love using the program, and would love to know how to fix this, thank you.

How did you install Audacity?

Back in August I used the Ubuntu Software Center. I tried doing so again today after the search could not find the program.

According to this page (http://packages.ubuntu.com/raring/audacity) the repository version of Audacity for Ubuntu 13.04 is 2.0.3-1

ok, then it may have been 2.0.3.

Thing is, I cannot check the version now because I cannot open the program. It worked fine this morning, and did so for the last three months.

I have now upgraded to 13.10, and same problem. I have downloaded 2.0.3 from soundforge. Can you just direct me to a page that will give me step by step to open up the tarball and get the program working again? I’d rather have the software center do it from the gui, but this does not seem to be an option now.

Figured it out, had to delete audacity_data, then re-install was a breeze. All is well in the universe again, cheers.

Good news . Thanks for letting us know.
