cannot open audacity

Hello, I am new to Audacity and using a new laptop. I’ve made sure may laptop is running its latest updates and also made sure to use the latest links for downloading. However, I cannot get Audacity to open. The file says it is version 3.1.3

The 1st error I get says “unable to execute file”. If I click on the desktop icon then it says “this app can’t run on your pc”. I have included screenshots of both errors.

My laptop is a Lenovo Flex 5G …

Well, this is certainly an enigma. I can’t say that I’ve seen this error before.

At first, I was thinking you might need a 32-bit version of Audacity, but I see that your machine is 64-bit.

I would try:

  1. rebooting your machine and trying it again before starting any other programs.

  2. Redownload the software. Check where you are downloading it from. Normally, you should be downloading it from https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

  3. I suppose you could try the 32-bit version. That should run on 32-bit and 64-bit machines.

    I would pay particular attention to Method 3 and Method 4.

THANK YOU! I haven’t started editing yet but the program did successfully open finally. Using the 32 bit version worked for me.

but it’s an ARM CPU, and Google search shows that the Lenovo Flex 5G is incompatible with some 64-bit apps, so I was about to suggest trying the 32-bit build of Audacity.
