I had a very old version of Audacity and tried to install in Windows 7 the Audacity 2.0.4 version. First of all I uninstalled the old version and removed everything of Audacity using CCleaner and Regedit.
Then I installed Audacity 2.0.4 but at the end it didn’t launch.
The only thing I can see using task management (CTRL+ALT+DEL) is a process audacity.exe running in about 50% processing time for about 10 minutes but there is no task Audacity and now windows i showing up
Any idea ?
If you wish you can follow the instructions in that post to kill audacity.exe, then delete “audacity.exe” in the 2.0.4 installation folder and extract the zip to a new folder. Then copy the “audacity.exe” from the new folder into the 2.0.4 installation folder.
If Audacity launches and works OK then you can delete the folder you extracted from the zip file.
If you installed LAME into Program Files/Lame For Audacity as per Audacity Manual , or you replaced the 2.0.4 “audacity.exe” with the “audacity.exe” in the zip, you don’t need to do anything.
If you had put lame_enc.dll in the 2.0.4 installation folder and are now using the complete version from the zip, you would need to move lame_enc.dll into the unzipped folder.
If you installed LAME into Program Files/Lame For Audacity as per > Audacity Manual > … .html#lame , or you replaced the 2.0.4 “audacity.exe” with the “audacity.exe” in the zip, you don’t need to do anything.
I installed both the lame program and used the audacity from the zip-file as you suggested. But in your previous mail you said OR instead of AND.
Don’t I have a conflict now ?
