Cannot get Audacity 2.0.4 to record from USB TT (SOLVED)

My PC: HP, 32 bits, 2.2GHz, 2GB, Vista SP2.

What did I do:

Installed Audacity 2.0.4 .exe.

Connected Lenco USB turntable to USB port.

Turned all on.

Have stereo sound indication on the input level meters, normal levels.

Pressing the RECORD button causes the PAUSE button to activate itself, so no recording is taking place.

Pressing the “afspilningsbutton” slips a small fraction of sound through.

Have used previous versions with good results.

Check near the bottom of the Transport menu and ensure that “Sound Activated Recording” is not selected.
