Cannot delete selection [SOLVED]

OK this is puzzling me, feeling like dufus. I had appended my music tracks into one mp3 and wanted to edit it. I watched the tutorial to select and edit sections (looks simple enogh) but every time I make a selection (which it highlights and looks simple enough). But then when I try delete it or put a effect it doesn’t look selected, I imagine its me so please do explain what the heck am doing wrong :confused:

Windows 7 is my OS, Audacity 2.0.5

So if you have a short sound clip on your timeline and you drag-select some portion (attached) and press your keyboard DEL key, it doesn’t delete?

Could be that you’ve pressed pause instead of stop.

Yup sorry didn’t realise anyone replied lol, your right it was due to me playing the file and required to stop the play before the selection is made. Thanks for pointing my error both!
