Can not launch ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe - "The setup files are corrupted"

Hello,

I’ve been trying to install the ffmpeg codec for my Windows 10 machine without success.

First, I clicked the ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe found at https://lame.buanzo.org/#lamewindl and it downloads to my computer.

I then click the ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe file on my computer and get this message: “The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.”

I doubt that the file I am downloading is corrupted as no one else has reported the issue.

I have downloaded it multiple times (just in case it got corrupted during the download process) with the same result.

I have rebooted my computer and tried again - same result.

I have tried running the exe program with Audacity running and without it running - same result.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I agree that it’s unlikely, but best to check.

Use this web page to analyze your copy of the “ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe” file:
https://md5file.com/calculator

The “SHA256” result should be:
abf3eee0c2556f6efa0d4446df7244778a61d6c3c339a4ecabaccdd85568e4e8

Here’s the result I got for SHA-256:

231122905d520e17391f62c9d5421b352c605e35e6c5675eec0bcc9fc0d760e2 (see screenshot)

Definitely not the same.

Would you mind downloading a copy of the exe file and see if you get the expected value or the one I got?

I got the expected value:
abf3eee0c2556f6efa0d4446df7244778a61d6c3c339a4ecabaccdd85568e4e8

so your downloaded version is either damaged, or the wrong file.

When you download “ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe”, ensure that you left click on the link to download.

Yes, I was left-clicking on the exe file.

I just resolved the issue. I had to download the ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe to another computer, copy it to a thumb drive, copy it to the PC that said the setup files were corrupted and then it executed without any issues.

Thanks for your assistance, though. I appreciate it when someone else tries to help.

@maderemark Exact same as you. Did your ‘ I just resolved the issue. I had to download the ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe to another computer, copy it to a thumb drive, copy it to the PC that said the setup files were corrupted and then it executed without any issues’ and worked great.

This is all very curious… I just downloaded the .exe file and the hash was OK and it seemed to run OK.
