Can no longer detect FFmpeg

Split from https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/100-orphaned-blocks-i-would-not-call-this-program-reliable/44459/3

The only other issue I have with audacity (2.12) is that it says it cannot see my avformat-52.dll. But mp3 is good enough. Also tried 53. Tells me “failed to find compatible FFmpeg libraries”. Even dropped them into c:\

As this is unrelated to your topic about orphaned block files in long projects, I started a new topic for you.

We don’t make “2.12”. Always download Audacity from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows.

If you have upgraded to 2.1.2 from earlier than 2.0.6, you need to download the later FFmpeg 2.2.2 according to this FFmpeg FAQ.

Use the FFmpeg 2.2.2 installer “ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe”, do not change the installation path then 2.1.2 should detect the new FFmpeg automatically.
