Just as title says
I am helping my church with their podcasting and we receive an intro/outro from the station. I am fairly new to Audacity so I am learning as I go. I understand HOW to normallize. But my question is is there a way to see if a file/audio strack/whatever has been normalized already?
My operating system is Windows 10
Thanks for your help

Effect > Amplify… shows you the peak amplitude. Look in the first box (“Amplification dB”) and take the opposite sign of what it says.
So if it says 1 dB, then the peak of the audio is -1 dB.

you may know this already -
Normalization doesn’t correlate well with perceived loudness so you might have to make some by-ear adjustments.
Lossy formats like MP3 or AAC will make some peaks higher and other peaks lower, so if you normalize for 0dB peaks and then export to MP3, you may find approximately +1dB peaks if you re-open and check the MP3.
