Buzz nois in MP3 file saved just in one pc

Hi I have strange problem.
Maybe it’s an upgrading problem.

I have 2 PCS:
Pc n. 1 where I have audacity with Windows 10
Pc. n.2 just to listening music with Windows 10

After save my track modified with audacity (PC n.1) I saved it.
Then if I listening the music in PC n.1 there is no any strange noise (buzz). Everything is perfect!!!
I put the file in a Pen drive to listening the track on my TV there is no strange noise (buzz). Everything is perfect!!!
I save the file on my Smartphone to listening the track on my pc there is no strange noise (buzz). Everything is perfect!!!
I save the track on a cd to listening in my car there is no strange noise (buzz). Everything is perfect!!!

But when I try to listening the track on my PC n. 2 I hear that bad noise (buzz).

I know that it’s not audacity problem, but any helps to upgrade the audio files system on PC n. 2?
The others MP3s are perfects!!! there is no strange noise (buzz). Everything is perfect!!!
This problem is arrived since one week ago (after reinstalled windows in PC n. 1
With old windows (windows 7) and old audacity everything was fine. But now with new audacity the file saved in mp3 is no more compatible with the PC n. 2.

Maybe ,y settings in the audacity software (in pc n.1) are not supported by PC n. 2

Thank you in advancing ro any halp.

Tony

But when I try to listening the track on my PC n. 2 I hear that bad noise (buzz).

How are you listening to the files in PC n. 2?

Does it happen more than once?

After save my track modified with audacity (PC n.1) I saved it.

What are you doing to the track on PC n. 1?

Koz

Thank you for your reply.
I tried to record the track trough my smartphone from pc n. 2 to let here the noise.
and strange thing was happened: the quality sound is ok when the music come out from the speaker of Pc n. 2
:unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

So the problem is the earphone?
but if I listening the old track with this earphone in pc n. 2 the quality is good.
But if I listening last track there is this buzz noise in background untill the end of the music.

I thing to try to use another earphone…
I let you know. But it’s very strange

Thanks for your help.
I let you know.

Tony

Koz asked a couple of questions that you didn’t answer…

And I a couple more questions -

untill the end of the music.

Is the buzz constant or is it related to volume? i.e. Do you hear it during quiet or silent parts, or only during loud parts?

…I’m thinking it could be excessive low-frequency (or subsonic) energy/noise. Try a high-pass filter at 100Hz. (Select the “Classic Filter” effect.) That will kill the low frequencies (including most of the bass). If that removes the buzz that will provide a clue and maybe it can be fixed without killing all of the bass.

Where did the original file come from?

Hi thank you for your reply.

So your questions :
Is the buzz constant or is it related to volume?
yes it’s constant and always during the loud parts and also during the quiet parts

How are you listening to the files in PC n. 2?
with earphone

Does it happen more than once?
Always. And I can hear this buzz just in the last mp3 files created. This problems comes just after I save the track with new audacity after formatted my PC.

I did and now no more buzz when I hear the song with hearphone.
So putting the high-pass filter at 100Hz you told me that I killed all my the bass. So I tried a lot of combination. The best one I thing is at value 10, but the buz is there just for the first second, then no more

Thank you so so much for your help

So putting the high-pass filter at 100Hz you told me that I killed all my the bass. So I tried a lot of combination.

So… We need to figure-out where the problem is coming from. It seems like you have some subsonic energy in the recording…

Since filtering fixed the buzz, there IS a problem with the FILE and for some reason it’s being masked on most of your playback systems but it’s showing-up on your new computer.

Did you listen to the original file on the computer-2 before editing it? And what did you do when editing it?

Where did this file come from? Did you record it with a microphone? Record from the Internet? Download it?

I assume this is music, since you noticed a loss of bass?

You may be able to find the dominant frequency of the “buzz”… Select a few seconds of audio where it’s otherwise silent or quiet and then Analyze - Plot Spectrum. You should see a peak at the dominant frequency. The low frequencies are on the left side. You may have to increase the FFT “size” to get more resolution.

A “band stop filter” (AKA “notch filter”) can kill a narrow frequency band without killing all of the bass.

The best one I thing is at value 10, but the buz is there just for the first second, then no more

That’s a little strange… Maybe you can fade-in the first fraction of a second? Or, maybe record some extra silence at the beginning and trim it off after filtering?

Also, the “traditional” range of human hearing is 20Hz - 20kHz so with a 20Hz high-pass filter you shouldn’t loose… any bass. And, you can probably go up to 40Hz. …The lowest note on a standard electric bass guitar is about 40Hz and a lot of dance club & live-sound subwoofers are tuned to go down to about 40Hz, so that’s low enough to get bass you can feel in your chest (if your woofers & amplifiers are big enough).

Thank you to support my problem.
So your questions:

Did you listen to the original file on the computer-2 before editing it? And what did you do when editing it?
It’s working in all pc. Just in PC 2 when I hear from earphone (I tried 3 different earphones). From the PC speaker there is no bazz noise.

Where did this file come from? Did you record it with a microphone? Record from the Internet? Download it?
I downloaded form youtube some video Karaoke. recording when I sing. I can see the level of monitoring it start and 50% (Maybe some filter cut the noise, but I can see it when audacity monitoring the sound: the blue bar).

As attached you there is a test that I recorded.
If you listen the sound trough the speaker there is no noise.
If you listen the sound from earphone there is the buzz

I will try to do what you said (to find the dominant frequency of the “buzz”…)

Thank you for your help
Tony

I can’t listen to your file right now because I’m at work…

Probably unrelated, you’ve got a DC offset. You can’t hear DC (zero Hz) except it can cause a “click” at the beginning & end or if you star/stop when it suddenly kicks-in and kicks-out. The DC offset shows-up in the spectrum view and sort-of messes-up the graph so I took-out the DC offset with the Normalize effect.

I’m seeing a narrow “spike” at about 150Hz and another at about 190Hz. There is also a wide “bump” from around 25Hz to 90Hz. But like I said, I haven’t listened and I don’t know if any of that is “good bass” or if it’s some kind of unwanted noise. You can try filtering-out or EQing down those frequencies to see what happens. Or, sometimes it’s helpful to do the opposite… Filter-out everything else to zero-in on the noise before trying to eliminate or reduce the noise.

If you listen the sound trough the speaker there is no noise.
If you listen the sound from earphone there is the buzz

There could be a couple of reasons for that, but the speakers are probably high-pass filtered, especially if you are using laptop speakers. The buzz may be a side-effect of some low-frequency sound that you’re not directly hearing…

I downloaded form youtube some video Karaoke

OK. So there’s nothing wrong with your setup, it’s somebody else’s lousy recording.

Finally I found the problem.
Now no more buzz noise in my earphone.

My Laptop (Pc 2 where usually there was the noise) had strange setting on the sound card.
The equalizer was setting with more power.
My laptop speaker is very high quality so no buzz there, but the earphone (with this strong setting) had problems.

Now I after resetting the equalizer everything works fine.

Thank yo so so much to help me.

Best regards
Tony
