Bug for recovering unsaved files

Hello, I’d like to ask for help because I’ve encountered the following problem: a project wasn’t saved when my computer shut down.

I tried to recover the recordings by reopening Audacity, and the automatic recovery window appeared, offering to recover four different files. Since I wasn’t sure which one it was, I opened them all, but when Audacity tried to open the recordings, the software crashed and the windows closed.

So I tried to restart Audacity, but the automatic recovery window for unsaved files no longer appeared! The software apparently thought I had recovered them.

So I checked the Session Data folder, and indeed the files are there! But the recovery window no longer recognizes them when I launch the software. What should I do? I don’t know how to recover these recordings manually. They can’t be opened in Audacity because the format is incorrect (.aup3unsaved-shm). I only want to retrieve one of them; it needs to be the most recent one, and the dates match.

I am not sure how I could help you, but files ending with -shm are temporary files used during recording. There should be a nearly-identically named file without -shm at the end. You could try finding the “audacity” folder somewhere in the AppData section of your file system; they should probably be there.
