I use a Line 6 GX interface to record my bass guitar and having trouble listening to my bass while recording a track. The Line 6 drivers are the latest ones and the device is recognized by both Audacity and OS X no problem.
Audacity can record my bass playing on a track and I can listen to it playback. I just cannot hear my bass when I play and record at the same time.
I cannot record a track and listen to another track at the same time also, which is fairly basic and has worked before, but not on this computer.
Here is a screenshot of my settings.
I use a set of Bose headphones and they work fine too.
So it’s a new computer to this production? How did you get a new computer to run Mojave?
The speaker window should say GX, not Bose. You can’t listen to the computer (Audacity) during overdubbing or multi-track. The computer connection will always give you delays or echoes.
Audacity should be set for Overdubbing but not Playthrough in Audacity > Preferences > Recording.
Your headphones are plugged into the GX, right? Can you hear yourself? The manual says the GX us supposed to mix the computer sound with your live performance.
Step one make sure the GX is alive. Step two hear yourself.
I can’t get the manual to tell me if there’s a light on the GX to signify that the USB connection is working. Is there one? Little green light somewhere?
Leaving out these indicators seems unimportant until something goes wrong.
Hello!
I cannot hear myself playing.
The GX works and the light is green.
I was able to record my bass and listen to it on playback and the sound is good through the Bose before, but now I get noghint on the input from the GX and nor from the output jack from the GX either on audacity. But, I can listen to videos on youtube no problem through the GX output.
I am so confused as this should not be that complicated.
Thanks for all of your help!
I don’t think you should be worried about Audacity right this second. The instructions are pretty clear you should be able to listen to your instrument on the headphones plugged into the GX.
If you can’t do that then there may be something broken and we could be here a long time trying to resolve that.
