Background noise and the waveform looks like a solid band

hi, i am desparate to remove bacground noise from an audio recording. there is not a good segment of just background noise and the waveform looks like a solid band. anything else i can do besides noise reduction…really need help, thank you very much

And I’m guessing that it also sounds badly distorted?
My guess is that it was recorded far too loudly, and is damaged beyond repair.

If you could post a short sample (just a few seconds) in WAV format, then we can tell you if there is any chance of recovering anything useful. See here for how to attach an audio sample: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-post-an-audio-sample/29851/1)

thanks so much for looking at this. the voices (most of the people are women) are higher and you can allllllmost make them out, not too much distortion. its just that awful backgound noise…thansk again, really hoping we can figure this out.

Not much we can do without an audio sample (a few seconds in WAV format).

Apologies I attempted to upload it this morning will do so in just a moment

remove bacground noise from an audio recording.

Is this a surveillance or sub-rosa recording? Can you hear any of the words, ever? Generally, if you can’t make out the words, it’s all over. Noise Reduction needs to know where the gaps in the words and sentences are—and it has to be pretty accurate.
