Hi, need some help!
i’ve running Audacity 2.0.5 on Mac and all my recordings have a very noticable “hiss” in the background. i’ve tried disconnecting the power source, recoding in a different room etc but its still there. Am I doing something wrong?
We need to know what you are recording, how you are recording it, what external audio equipment is hooked up to your Mac, how it is hooked up, what kind of Mac it is, and what version of OS X you are using.
We recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of Audacity: http://web.audacityteam.org/

Ok, using os Yosemite, audacity 2.0.5 and a Usb mic. Recording voice overs
Which USB microphone? Snowball? Yeti?
We get tons of good intel with a short sound test.
Note that some of this doesn’t work in earlier versions of Audacity. Audacity 2.1.0 is highly recommended.

Resist the urge to “fix it up” for us. Record, press stop and export no matter what’s there.
