Just got the Hype tape to mp3 portable player and converter. Can only hear the cassette with earphones. Why can’t I use it as a portable cassette player as advertised? Why can’t I hear the cassette while I am recording?

Do you get the bouncing red recording meters while you’re recording? You can hear what you’re doing by selecting. Edit > Preferences > Recording > Playthrough.
If you can hear the music through headphones plugged into the device, then it is running as a portable cassette player.
