Audio tracks are empty after loading a project

Hi All,

I’ve just updated to Audacity 3.7.3 today and put together a small project (needed to cut a music for a friend). I was using a .flac file as a source, maybe it’s worth to mention. I’ve finished and exported the project (this is the lucky part I guess), but then I wanted to make some further slight touch, only to find out that the audio tracks are missing when I load up the project (except for a generated and muted metronome track). The .aup3 data file is 215 MB, so I guess the data is in there. Not sure if Audacity is loading the source files directly, but I didn’t move them anyways, everything is in one folder, next to each other (I mean the .aup3 and the .flac files).

I’ve also just found a recovery tool here, gave it a try, but to no avail, it “recovered” the project, but it’s still empty. Diagnostic logs show a bunch of missing files, also not sure if it’s related, even if I don’t load up a project, I see these: Error: Failed to load shared library 'avformat-55.dll' (up to ‘…61.dll’, along with an error 126 module not found error message). I’ve also tried going back to previous versions, all the way down to 3.6.4, no luck.

Any idea how to restore this project, or should I simply say goodbye to it?

As a workaround, you could create a new project and import the file you originally exported then do the extra bits you intended to do. I know that doesn’t solve the mystery but it might get you out of a jam.
If you want to let me try loading your aup3 file, I’m willing to have a go.

Hi, no need to, but thanks. I’ll probably just do what you suggested. Maybe in a less fragile software (I’m sorry to say that)…
