audio slapback when monitoring

I get bad slapback (echo) when monitoring recording. How do I get rid of it?

You need to configure your hardware so that you are monitoring the audio input rather than the audio output. How to do that depends on the hardware. Some hardware (notably most internal sound cards) can’t do that, in which case the best thing to do is not monitor your own voice.

Sorry the answer is so vague, but you’ve given us very little detail to work with.

I solved it by turning the monitor switch on my Behringer UCA 202 to the off position.
