audio set-up problem

Windows 7, Audacity 2.1.0, exe

I had a serious crash and had to replace my hard drive, so I lost Audacity. I successfully installed Audacity, but not Lame. I downloaded Lame to a folder, and see it there when I open the folder, but Audacity preferences won’t recognize it when I browse from there, and it continues to say it’s not found. ??

Did you get Audacity from here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/
If not, please remove your current version and download the 2.1.1 version from the links on the above website (we then know for sure that you are using a genuine version of Audacity.

Then precisely follow the instructions exactly as written here the install LAME: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame

Try downloading Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe from http://lame.buanzo.org/#lamewindl and run the EXE file to “install” LAME instead of trying to copy it to a folder.

P.S. Steve beat me to it…

Thanks. I thought that’s how I did it, but this time got it.

When I hit record, a message comes saying:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the recording device settings and project sample rate.

Under Preferences/Device - No devices found

Please see this FAQ in the Audacity Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_errors.html#sound_device
