Audio Not Recording [SOLVED]

Hi there, I have been using Audacity for the past few hours and has been working great, but all of a sudden it just stopped recording the audio. The program seems to pick up that there is noise there but no blue waves are being recorded, just a flat line. I have tried restarting the computer, reconnecting the USB to my computer as well as the turntable, and couldn’t find a suitable solution on here. Running Windows 10, Audacity 2.1.1 Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you for that. Knowing those numbers is a terrific start.

reconnecting the USB to my computer as well as the turntable,

Flesh that out a little. “I bought a USB turntable…”

It’s good to know that Audacity checks for connections when it starts. If you plug something in later, it will be invisible to Audacity. You can also use Transport > Rescan…

It’s hard to go into details because we don’t know what you have. What do you have?

If something happened to an external connection, sometimes the machine will switch to, say, the built-in microphone. Check that with the Device Toolbar.

Yes, everything is working fine now. Thanks for the help! Turns out my finger must have slipped and changed the microphone input on the toolbar, and I didn’t take notice. Thanks again for the quick reply!

You should pay attention to that. Maybe it’s not you. As above, that can happen if you have something wrong with the USB connection.

“Every time I move the USB cable a little, Audacity goes nuts…”

Okay, I’ll keep an eye out if it happens again. Thanks Again!
