Audio not playing after I record it

Uh, hi! I literally just got Audacity a few hours ago, and I’ve taken some time to play with it, then return it back to its default settings. I have recorded an audio piece and I wanted to play it back, but when I do, I get an error message saying,

“Error while opening sound device. Please check the playback device settings and the project sample rate.”

Help? :question:

That’s our Check Engine light. It probably means Audacity either couldn’t find or couldn’t figure out how to use your speakers or headphone system.

Sound Device Notes

How did you record your audio piece? If you have a USB microphone, Audacity may be trying to send sound back out to it. No that doesn’t work.

Make sure the Device Toolbar is set right.
