Audio Cassette - Recording - Totally Lost

Hi there,

I’m seemingly back to square one in trying to record a cassette tape.

Now when I open Audacity the vertical pin stripe which goes through the graph starts at 15:00 not 0:00 and when I try to drag that pin stripe back to 0:00 with the mouse it brings up the finger which then creates a purple shaded area from 15:00 to 0:00 and if I hit the microphone icon it just plays from 0:00 - 15:00 and stops.

Is there some way to open Audacity so the pint strip starts at 0:00?

Is this the proper procedure for recording a cassette tape?

  1. click Mic icon
  2. choose Start monitoring
3, click Play on cassette deck

Thank you!

If you look at the bottom of the screen you will see a selection start and then snap to with a check box,. first make sure the check box is not checked, then make sure the h,m,s, all read zero
