audicity seems to be locked up

when i try to record a record i hit the record button and the curser seems to be stuck at the beginning of the song its like some
thing is holding it back…whats this about?

You don’t have your recording device working correctly or you have the wrong device selected for recording, or you have invalid settings for your recording device.
First place to check is in “Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O”
