Audacity??????

Every time I try to import an audio file on to Audacity, it says . for example “Bubbly is a Windows Media Audio File. Audacity cannot open this type of file due to patent restrictions. You need to convert it to a supported audio format.” Why won’t this work? I downloaded the standard version for Windows. Can any one please help with this? PLEASE? Thank-you!

I dunno… I can open & save/export WMA files…

Have you installed the optional FFMPEG library? (I’m not sure if that’s required to open WMAs, but I have it installed and it’s working for me.)

Is there any chance your WMA file is copy protected? Where did it come from?

To import WMA files you need to have FFmpeg installed. See here for instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown
