I’m having a similar problem, I was working on a music mix and then “saved project as”. And a coupl hours later I turned my laptop back on and launched audacity. And when I go to file-> open-> “my project” I receive an error message saying " error importing - blah blah blah “project.aup” is an audacity project file. Use “file > open” to open audacity projects"
And that’s exactly what I’m doing but it still won’t let me open my project. HELP!
but probably not the same, which then gets confusing, so for future reference, please start new questions as new topics rather than adding your question on the end of an existing project. Also, please provide the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page, and quote error messages exactly and in full without abbreviations.
For future reference, please start a new topic rather than adding on to an existing topic. Although people frequently say “I’m having exactly the same problem”, in most cases the problem is not the exactly the same (even though the symptom may be very similar), which make the forum topic confusing and difficult to follow.
Also, please provide the information requested in the pink panel at the top of the page, and quote error messages exactly and in full without abbreviations. We are unable to provide meaningful help without that information.
Unfortunately that AUP file is trash. There is no useful data to recover in that file.
@L.Trax, did you ever export a backup WAV file from this project, or save an earlier version of the project under another name? Both are good practices to follow in case disaster strikes.
Problems are least likely to happen if you have the current version of Audacity, which is 2.1.1 at the moment. If you don’t have 2.1.1, you can obtain it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows.
