Audacity won't accept input from PA mixer output

Good Morning

I have been using audacity for years on windows XP for recording Church Sermons. I have upgraded to windows 10 and plugged jack plug into line in which is showing in audacity. Immediately Audacity stops working and comes up with an error. If I plug a microphone into line in it works fine but this is not really suitable as it picks up all background noise. I have spent hours trying all your suggestions but with no success. I would really appreciate your help.

How is the mixer connected to the computer?
What settings have you selected in the Device Toolbar? (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html)
