Audacity will not load on MAC

My mac will not load audacity. I need to use it daily for work. Last week it would bounce once when I went to open it then disappear with an error report. Now it doesn’t open at all and there is no bouncing. It has said “Unable to gather system configuration information.” I am not sure what to do. Please help!

Please don’t double post. It only makes more work for us. The forum is moderated.
I’ll be back.

You know the post doesn’t make sense, right? You use it daily, but it’s been gone for over a week.

Did you install it for real, or are you trying to run it from inside the .dmg? Did you explode the .dmg file into files and folders and then drag the Audacity folder into applications? Did you read the install.txt file?

Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities
Select your system disk. Verify Disk and then Repair Permissions. Did your Permission Repair go for pages and pages? Close.

Launch Audacity from Go > Applications > Audacity > audacity.

Did it crash? Did you get an error report?

Include your machine particulars when you write back.
I’m typing on a Mac Mini, OS-X 10.6.8 and I’m using Audacity 2.0.3

My permission repair did go for a few pages. It am still getting an error report because it crashed. I am on a MAC book pro OS-X 10.6.8 and I use Audacity 2.0.3

Please post the latest Audacity crash report after permission repair.

To capture the crash report you can click in the report at top left then drag the selection to the bottom with your mouse, then copy the text.

Alternatively open Finder, then choose Go > Go to Folder and type:

~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

If you want to try something else first, make sure in Activity Monitor that Audacity is not running, then follow the steps here to disable VST and Audio Unit plug-ins http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/User:BillWharrie/Resetting_Preferences_on_Mac .

You can also do a hardware test .
