I updated to the new audacity 2.0.5 and when i tried to open a previous project it wont open?? It keeps saying it cant recognize the file type?? Is there any way i can fix this??
What sort of file are you trying to open, and how are you trying to open it?
Note that only “Audacity projects” are “opened” in the conventional sense. Ordinary audio files are “imported” (though confusingly they may be imported into a new project using the “File > Open” command.
Audacity natively supports importing WAV, AIFF, MP3, FLAC and OGG files. Most other audio file types (such as WMA, AAC, AC3) can also be imported if you have FFMpeg installed: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown
Also note that you can’t use File > Import > Audio… to open Audacity Projects - use File > Open… .
