I never had this problem with my old computer, but it was a desktop with Windows 7, and this is a laptop with Windows 10. My exact version is 2.1.3 and I obtained the .exe installer. My sample rate is 44100, and changing it to 48000 didn’t make any difference. I know so little about what the hell is going wrong that I don’t know what else to say. It just doesn’t record.
You can start with “record what?”
Turntable? Microphone? Model numbers?

Microphone, but since submitting this I discovered the problem: I forgot to install the drivers for the interface.
