Whenever I import a file in audacity and I play the track that I just imported just plays a loud static sound
Somehow it’s not getting decoded properly. Compression is a lot like encryption and it sounds like noise if it’s not decoded.
I assume it plays OK in Windows Media Player, or whatever you are using?
What’s the format? Check it with MediaInfoOnline.
You may need to install FFmpeg if you haven’t already done so, but usually Audacity will let you know that you need to install it to open certain files.
Or, you may need to convert the file to WAV with a 3rd-party program before opening in Audacity.
The file is formatted as a wav file and I installed FFmpeg but it didn’t work
