Dear Audacity experts:
I am a complete beginner to Audacity and voice recordings in general, so please be patient with me with regard to the lingo.
I need to narrate a short book. The issue I am encountering is that after about 15 seconds into the recording, sometimes a bit earlier, the recording starts to skip a little, words are not fully recorded, etc. I am at the point of wanting to pull my hair out. I have researched online for possible solutions, but nothing I have tried seems to work. Finally, I deleted Audacity from my system, and downloaded it again, but even that didn’t work. I have no idea if it is something in the Audacity settings, or maybe it has to do with my Windows settings. Doe you have any suggestions for me? I am grateful for any help.

The following options are marked under recording preferences:
Play other tracks while recording (overdub)
Record on a new track
Detect dropouts
Punch and Roll Recording:
Pre-roll: 5 seconds
Crossfade: 10 milliseconds
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit, x64-based processor)
