Audacity recording slowly goes silent

I record on a Mac, and recently it has been giving me problems by recording for the first 3 - 5 minutes and then it goes dead silent. It is the recording because my volume is turned up, but the lines that show its recording slowly fade out into silence. And Also, there is this thing that comes up saying there is an Orphan file somewhere…      HELP

Install the latest Audacity 2.0.5 from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac .

Be sure to follow the installation instructions on that page, and be sure not to run Audacity from the DMG.

In 2.0.5, open Audacity > Preferences, choose “Directories” on the left, and choose a temporary directory that has sufficient disk space (at least 100 MB for every minute of audio you want to record or edit). Make sure you have permission to write to that directory. If the directory is read-only, you cannot write there.

Also at top left of the computer screen, open Apple Menu > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound. Choose the “Input” tab and ensure that “Use ambient noise reduction” is unchecked (not ticked).

Audacity should not show messages about “orphan block files” unless it is crashing, or if there is a problem with a specific AUP project file. It could also be an old Audacity bug if you are using an obsolete Audacity version. Try in 2.0.5. If the problem persists, press the button to show the Log file when you see the error message, and attach the log file here.
