Audacity Project not Opening

Hi Wondering if anyone can help.
I saved a recording as an Audacity Project. I have just tried to open it. I received the message:
"Project Recovered. The project was not saved properly the last time Audacity ran. It has been recovered to the last snapshot. "
I certainly did save it as it appeared in my ‘My Voice’ folder (on MacBook Pro) as a .aup3 file.

The above message gives the option: ‘OK’ But when I click on ‘OK’ It just opens Audacity again with the same message, Each time I click on OK it just opens Audacity again with the same message. (???)

No file is showing on the software. I have about 12 of these open now (!). Audacity is not responding to the ‘Quit’ command.

What the hell is going on? Any ideas?

HI Everyone I used Command Option Esc to force quit Audacity and then downloaded the latest version. This was able to recognise my audacity project and open it. So I can now edit. (!)
