Hi. I’ve recently purchased an Audio Technica turntable with USB facility to record my vinyl into digital mp3 files.
Despite following various online tutorials and checking all the setting are as advised, Audacity is not showing any wave bars when I’ve started the vinyl record and activated the record button.
Any help would be so much appreciated. Thank you.
Make sure that you’ve selected the USB device as your Recording Device.
Also, on the bottom or back of your turntable there should be a “phono”/“line” switch. That’s actually for the analog outputs but somebody said they had to use “line” or the USB didn’t work.
Check your Permissions/Privacy Settings for the USB device.
The recording volume slider is “hidden” behind the recording levels meters, but usually it doesn’t work with USB devices anyway.
You can also try Listen To This Device to make sure Windows is getting a signal. (If Window’s isn’t getting anything from the turntable, Audacity won’t get anything either.)
Thanks for your reply and advice.
I haven’t used my laptop for a year and needed to update drivers and programmes and got the latest Audacity in the process.
I’ll try everything you suggest.
Cheers.
