All of a sudden, Audacity is not recording when I play music on Amazon Music. Can anyone offer suggested cures? THANKS!!
Select WASAPI loopback as your recording device.
Make sure to select the loopback device whare the sound is coming out… normaly your regular soundcard.
Note that WASAPI can’t start recording until playback starts. It can be playing silenec but it can’t be “nothing”.
Thanks, Doug. I’ll give that a try.
Doug,
I don’t appear to have that as an option. I only have two choices, MS sound mapper and Microphone Array.

UPDATE: It actually appears that it is recording something, but at a VERY low volume and seemingly compressed.
Doug,
I took a look at the link in your response and followed the steps shown there. It’s now working as it should.
Thanks,
Rod
Loopback usually works but it may depend on your drivers…
There are some alternatives at the bottom of this page. Total Recorder has a good reputation but it’s not free. (I’ve never tried it.)
Just FYI - It’s a copyright violation to steal streamed music. There’s a reason that there’s no “download” button… The artist (or copyright holder) gets paid a fraction of a cent every time you stream, about 10 cents for every MP3 you buy, or about a dollar for every CD you buy.
